1969

Founded In White Rock, BC

White Rock Iron Products was founded by skilled blacksmith Gijsbert (Bert) Van Oostrum, who brought his training and craftsmanship from the Netherlands and laid the groundwork for a business defined by quality, practicality, and hands-on expertise.

1980s

A Family Business Takes Shape

The company evolves from its founder-led operation into a true family business as Bert’s sons, Gordon and Harold, join the company full-time in 1981 and 1985, respectively. This brings a new generation into the shop and helps expand White Rock Iron's capacity, continuity, and vision.

1996

Relocation to Surrey, BC

After 27 years in White Rock, the company moves its operations to Surrey, BC.  This move reflects steady growth and provides additional space to support a larger volume of work and more complex project scopes.

1998

The Next Generation

Bert Van Oostrum transfers ownership to his sons, Gordon and Harold. This marks an important milestone in the company's history, formally establishing second-generation leadership while preserving the values, craftsmanship, and family-driven approach.

2017

Gordon Van Oostrum Retires

Gordon retires after 36 years with White Rock Iron Products, and Harold takes over full ownership. This marks the close of a major chapter in the company’s history and recognizes decades of contribution to the business’s growth, leadership, and reputation within the fabrication industry.

2018

Second Facility Move

With continued growth on the horizon, White Rock Iron Products relocates to Delta. The new facility better supports the company’s expanding operations and reinforces its ability to take on larger-scale work while continuing to serve clients across the region.

2019

Celebrating 50 Years Strong

White Rock Iron proudly celebrates half a century in business as a family-owned and operated company. Reaching this milestone highlights not only the company’s longevity but also the strong relationships it has built over decades with customers, industry partners, and the communities it serves.

2024

New Leadership and Onwards

Harold retires, and Alan Linsley and Jaime Lux take over as the new owners. This marks a shift from longtime Van Oostrum family ownership, although the company carries forward the legacy of craftsmanship, service, and steady growth established over the previous five decades.
